Here's The Scoop

Hello All! One Week, exactly until blast off!
Many of you don't know a whole lot about this trip, but I have told you a little bit about it. So, for those of you who are in the fog as to what is going on, here is the scoop on what I plan to be doing for the next three months.

The idea for this trip came to me over a year ago, while I was at school. Ideas were tossed about my brain about a trip around the country while I had the freedom to do so and on this trip, I would see some of the great sights of this country. Well, as I thought about it, my ideas started to grow and prosper and I got more and more determined to go for it. Through a lot of prayer and a lot of planning, I have decided to go on a 90 day; 15,000 mile motorcycle trip. Why so long? Well, 15,000 miles is what I want to cover to see the things I want to see and 90 days means that I need to average about 160 miles per day, which isn't too demanding, physically or mechanically. In driving shorter distances, I should be able to actually stay in places for a while and make it up other places on the road.

Well, that is all good and dandy, but other things were laid on my heart. Another goal I have for this whole trip is to meet Christians from around the country. In places where I don't know people, I will probably drive into a town in the afternoon, find a church, and ask if someone is willing to put me up for the night. Then, that entire evening, I will spend with those people asking about their church and what they are doing as a community and how God is working there. It would be so awesome to see how Christ is moving in different churches and Christians around the country.

The other thing is, I want the Holy Spirit to open me up to the leadings from the Father. There are people out there who just want someone to listen and talk to and who want to spend a meal with someone and who's heart is maybe open to hearing the gospel. Maybe it will be buying a gallon of milk for a single mother and her child. Maybe it will be sharing a hot meal with a homeless person and listening to their stories. Who knows? But, God can work in mysterious ways and if I can be Christ to a few people and show them what Christians are supposed to look like, maybe, just maybe, the Spirit will move in their hearts. Who knows, but it is better than sitting on my butt doing nothing.

Well, that is the basic gist of it. I know, with the missional standpoint, Satan is going to be after me and trying to frustrate me and there will be circumstances that I will come across that I can't even imagine, but I have to trust that God will lead me through. Please pray for me during these times. I am extremely excited for the adventure, but I am also extremely scared for the challenges that lie ahead.
Thanks you and God bless!

Timothy

THE MAP

Greetings All! Hopefully this map loads. This is the VERY general route that I plan on taking. So, if you live anywhere close to any of these lines or even if you don't, contact me. But, please do it quickly, because I leave in a week. Any more suggestions for things to see?

10 days...

10 days...
Well friends, I have had a renewed energy to get things going and get on the road. This weekend and the past couple days, I have good prayers times and have felt very reassured about the trip. Today, my tent came, which will be my home for the 90 days, so I set that up today. Hopefully, I will post a picture some time. Last night, my dad and I changed the oil in the cycle and it is getting new tires on it and then it should be road worthy... I am getting excited.

As I go through the days, I continue to imagine the situation the Lord will lead me to: both good and bad. Recently, I have been thinking and reflecting on meditation and prayer and spiritual warfare... I know...quite a broad spectrum, but all, I feel, very necessary to this trip. It will be interesting.
Prayer for strength, good prayer times, reliance on God and wisdom for unforseen situations.

More information about the actual trip and hopefully a map of the general route in the future. :)

A little nervous

Greetings Friends,
It is now 13 days until I leave on the trip. This summer has consisted of various activities to try and get myself into shape. My peddle bike has been a regular workout for several reasons: one, it helps me get in shape aerobically and two, it should toughen up my backside a little for the many miles of sitting on a motorcycle seat.
This past week, I compiled a list of things to take along and it seems really long, so I think that sometime this week or early next week, I will do a "practice run" and load up the cycle with what I want and see how it fits.

To be honest, this weekend I have been getting more and more nervous about it. The size of it intimidates and the length of it is comparable to an entire semester at school, except now, I won't have people with me at all time. man... Currently, I can't put into words what I am feeling because I am super excited to have an adventure like that and it has been sweet to think about it and plan it, but now that it is approaching and the reality of it is setting in, my nervousness is also coming around. Much prayer and much trust is needed during this time of preparation.
Thanks. until next time.

In the Beginning...

The First Post...
It is now 17 days until my journey begins. This blog has been created with a goal of writing on it at random times throughout my trip. For those of you who don't, but who somehow found your way to my blog, on July 5, I will be leaving on a motorcycle trip that is planned to take approximately 3 months and cover about 15,000 miles. Hopefully, some of the stories and descriptions of the day will find their way to this place, because I know of at least a few people who care and would like to know how the trip is going. So... here it is.
